Patiala News: A shocking case came to light in Patiala on Tuesday morning, where the body of a young girl was recovered from a blue drum lying in a garbage heap near the DCW bridge near Railway Colony. A red cover was attached to the drum so that no one would suspect.

As soon as the information was received, the police and forensic teams reached the spot. On opening the drum, the body of a girl was found inside, whose age is said to be around 15 to 20 years. According to the police, the deceased has “Neha” written in English on one hand, while the other hand has a heart tattoo and the letters “NA” tattooed on it. Scratches and blood marks were also found on the face and hands.Investigating officer Gurvinder Singh said that at around 5:15 am, the Urban Estate police station received information over the phone that a human body was visible in a drum near the DCW bridge. The garbage collector opened the drum and found the body inside, after which the police were informed.

The police suspect that the girl was murdered somewhere else and later the body was put in a drum and dumped here by car. Initial investigation suggests that the case is related to love affairs. The body has been kept in the mortuary of Rajindra Hospital for 72 hours for identification of the deceased.

The police have issued a wireless alert across Punjab to match the report of a missing girl. The police are checking CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity. Officials say that the area where the incident took place is deserted and the drum could have been thrown here after midnight.

Last year, a body was found in a drum in Ludhiana too.

Let us tell you that on June 25, 2025, the body of a person was found in a blue drum in Sherpur area of Ludhiana. In that case, the police had arrested 4 accused, including a woman.
