India News (India News), Communal tension: Violence has erupted after the demolition of illegal madrassa in Haldwani. After demolishing the Madrasa, stones were pelted by the local people. Vehicles were also set on fire. After which the police took action and sprayed tear gas. Communal tension spread in Haldwani area of (Nainital) district today following the demolition of a madrassa and an underground mosque-like structure built illegally on government land in Banbhulpura area.
Curfew imposed in the area
According to officials, a joint team of Nainital district administration and local civic officials carried out the demolition on Nazul land. Due to which angry local people have reacted violently. Due to which the situation deteriorated rapidly. Some police officers and district administration officials were injured in stone pelting.
To control the situation, the district administration has imposed curfew in the troubled Banbhulpura area. All the roads leading there have been barricaded. The state government also issued orders authorizing law enforcement to use lethal force against unruly elements and even shoot rioters on sight.
CM Dhami held review meeting
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called an emergency meeting to review the growing situation. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Uttarakhand Abhinav Kumar and ADG (Law and Order) AP Anshuman were present in the meeting. Dhami said the administration's action was in response to the court order, as they had launched an anti-encroachment drive in the area.
He said that “anti-social elements had a dispute with the police there. Some police personnel and administrative officials were injured. Additional companies of police and central forces are being sent there. We have appealed to everyone to maintain peace. Curfew is in place. Strict action will be taken against the rioters and encroachers who indulge in arson. ,
what did the ssp say
SSP Prahlad Meena said that the demolition of the madrasa was done after prior information to the residents. He told that the demolition action was carried out in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Upadhyay, City Magistrate Richa Singh, SDM Paritosh Verma.
DGP gave information
Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar said, at present, the situation is under control. Many police personnel and administration officials have been injured. They have been admitted to hospitals. No casualties have been reported yet. The situation is tense but under control. In the coming days, the people behind the incident will be identified and action will be taken against them.
