Hyderabad man kills girlfriend, stores chopped body parts, held

Hyderabad Police has arrested a man for killing his 55-year-old lover over a financial dispute, chopping her body into pieces and storing them in a fridge for days.

By Abdul Basheer: A 48-year-old man has been arrested for killing his 55-year-old lover over a financial dispute, chopping her body into pieces, and storing them in a refrigerator for days, the police said on Wednesday.

The matter came to light after a sanitation worker found the severed head of a woman in a black bag at a garbage dumping site near the Musi River beside Teegalguda Road.

After a preliminary investigation, the police identified the deceased as 55-year-old Yerram Anuradha Reddy from Dilshuknagar in Hyderabad.

The police said the suspect, 48-year-old Chandra Mohan, was in a relationship with the deceased for over 15 years. As Reddy's husband had left her long ago, she started living on the ground floor of Mohan's house.

The police said Reddy was involved in arranging finance for needy people on an interest basis. In 2018, Mohan borrowed Rs 7 lakh from Reddy but did not return it despite repeated requests.

Agitated by Reddy's pestering nature, Mohan, on May 12 afternoon, picked up a quarrel with Reddy and attacked her with a knife, inflicting stab injuries on her chest and stomach. She succumbed to her injuries soon after.

Later, Mohan bought two stone-cutting machines and severed her head first. He then chopped her body into several pieces and preserved the legs and hands in a fridge. He dumped Reddy's severed head in the dumping area.

He also bought disinfectants, perfumes, and incense sticks to keep bad smells at bay. He also sent messages from Reddy's phone to her friends.
