The case is from the Mohadipur area of Gorakhpur's Cantt police station area. Here, a girls' hostel houses students studying in various colleges of the city and preparing for competitive exams. Around 26 girls are staying in 20 rooms of the hostel.
According to the police, a student had come to stay in the hostel two days ago. On the night of September 8, she went to the bathroom. During this, her eyes fell on a mobile phone kept in the tin ceiling of the bathroom.
According to the student, she became suspicious after seeing the mobile. She first made a video of that phone with her mobile and then called other students living in the hostel and told them about it. The students alleged that the mobile kept in the bathroom was an Android phone and its camera was on. The camera was facing the toilet. As soon as this information was received, there was a commotion in the hostel.
Students claim - Many videos found in mobile
The students alleged that when the mobile was checked, videos of some students' bathrooms were also found in it. According to the students, the mobile allegedly contained videos of 5 to 6 girls.
Some of the students also recorded the video of the incident on their mobile phones. After this, the police were informed on dial 112. However, the alleged videos present in the mobile phones, their number and other facts related to the recording will be confirmed only after the police investigation.
After receiving the information, the police of PRV and Cantt police station reached the hostel located in Mohaddipur at around 12 midnight. The police questioned the students present at the spot and the female warden of the hostel. During the interrogation, it was revealed that the mobile was said to belong to the warden of the hostel. The police took possession of the mobile and started the investigation.
The hostel warden is accused of keeping the mobile phone on recording mode in the bathroom and recording it. According to the police, during interrogation, the female warden gave a different reason behind keeping the mobile phone in the bathroom.
The warden says that a dustbin has been placed near the bathroom for the girls to dispose of used sanitary pads. Despite this, some girls allegedly used to throw the pads here and there, causing dirt. According to the warden, he had put the mobile on recording mode to find out who was doing the dirt.
The warden also told the police that he had no wrong intention and that cameras have been installed at other places in the hostel for the safety of the girl students. However, the matter has become serious after allegations of recording by keeping a mobile phone in the bathroom surfaced.
The students also provided information to the families.
After the incident, there was a commotion in the hostel for a long time. The students also informed their family members about the matter. According to the police, an investigation into the entire matter has been started after the students' complaint. The mobile phone is being seized and its technical examination is being done.
Police say the investigation will determine what was recorded on the mobile, how many videos were there, and why the mobile was kept in the bathroom.
