3 suspected terrorists seen in Kathua, army conducts search operation in forest areas, locals alerted

Jammu Kashmir: In Hiranagar area of Kathua, a local citizen had informed the security forces about three suspected terrorists, after which the army and local police jointly started a search operation.


Jammu Kashmir Kathua News: Security forces on Monday (May 2, 2025) launched a search operation near a forest area after suspicious activity was detected in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a report by news agency PTI, officials said the operation was launched after a civilian spotted three suspicious people in the Hiranagar area. He said a joint operation team is engaged in the search and vigilance has been increased on the highway including the entire area.


Security forces on alert after Pahalgam terror attack 


A similar search operation was also carried out last Tuesday (27 May 2025), when the security forces received information about the movement of suspected terrorists. The security forces had carried out a search operation in the high altitude areas of Kathua district.  After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, the security forces are on full alert in entire Jammu and Kashmir.


The campaign is being run in these areas for the last 6 days


After this attack, Border Security Force (BSF) and Army personnel were deployed in sensitive areas including Rajouri and Poonch. If any suspicious person is seen anywhere in the state, the Army and local police jointly conduct search operations. Search operations are being conducted for the sixth consecutive day since May 27 in the forest areas of Kathua (Lowang and Sarthal), Kishtwar and Samba.


On May 22, security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Joint forces including 11 National Rifles, 7 Assam Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a search operation in Singhpora, Chatroo area of Kishtwar district against Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) terrorists.


Omar Abdullah had a meeting regarding security arrangements


Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a special cabinet meeting in Pahalgam last week. During this, arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and restarting tourism in Pahalgam and other places were discussed. Addressing national tour operators, he stressed the importance of reviving tourism after the Baisaran incident.
