According to reports, at around 11 a.m. on Monday (April 27, 2026), the Pakistani military launched a drone attack on the Kunar University campus. A professor and two students were seriously injured in the attack. The situation worsened following this attack on the educational institution. In response, Afghanistan also launched an offensive against Pakistan.

Afghanistan's retaliatory action

The Afghan army has claimed to have taken strict action against Pakistan. According to reports, the Afghan army crossed the border and carried out a surgical strike on a Pakistani post. Four Pakistani soldiers were killed in this operation, while one soldier was captured and taken to Afghanistan. The Afghan army also seized some weapons from Pakistani soldiers.

It is reported that a day earlier, on April 26th, Pakistan had targeted Afghanistan's Angoor Adda border post with a drone. Tensions between the two countries have been steadily increasing since then.
