Ahmedabad Plane Crash: In a horrific accident today Thursday afternoon, Air India flight AI-171, which was flying from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after take-off in Meghnagar area. There were 242 passengers on board the plane . The accident has been confirmed by the state police control room. As soon as the plane fell, it caught fire and there was chaos in the area. Several fire engines immediately reached the spot and efforts are on to control the fire.


This accident reopened an old wound—the dark day of October 19, 1988, when another horrific plane crash had taken place at the Ahmedabad airport.

On 19 October 1988, Indian Airlines flight IC-113 took off from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. While landing, the plane crashed just short of the runway. 133 of the 135 people on board the plane died in the accident . This accident is considered the deadliest in the history of Indian Airlines and is recorded as the fourth worst air crash in Indian aviation history .


According to reports, the cause of the accident was believed to be the pilot's attempt to land despite poor visibility and failure to respond to radio alerts in time. This incident shook the entire country and raised many questions about air safety.


The 2025 incident and the similarity with 1988


  • Location: Both accidents occurred in or around Ahmedabad airport.
