Punjab University: Protests by students are continuing in Chandigarh demanding the announcement of the date of Senate elections in Panjab University. Due to this, chaos has been created everywhere, the atmosphere of the university has been completely destroyed. All the roads leading to and from the Mohali-Chandigarh border have been closed, due to which parents who are bringing their children from school are also stuck. After the clash with the police, the students broke down Gate No. 1 in front of PGI. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur climbed the gate to stop them, but the students did not comply. After this, the police lathi-charged the students who broke the barricades. Earlier, the students had broken the gate and entered, during which they clashed with the police. However, Gate No. 1 has now been completely opened. Students and protesters, including Nihang Singhs, have entered the university from here. Farmers have broken the police barricade in Phase 6 on the Mohali-Chandigarh border. They are now moving towards the PU in Chandigarh. The police had earlier tried to stop them but failed. Farmer leader Balvir Rajewal said why Haryana police have been deployed in Mohali.

After being stopped from entering Chandigarh, the Nihangs headed towards YPS Chowk, Mohali. Anticipating a traffic jam, the police have set up roadblocks from all sides.

Seeing the police arrangements, the students appealed to their supporters to sit there and protest wherever the police stop them. The students also created ruckus on Sunday night. They continued their protest at the university gate till late at night. However, the Chandigarh Police has deployed 2,000 personnel, made strict security arrangements. There are blockades at 12 places across the city. Only business people are allowed to enter the university, and their IDs are being checked for this purpose.
