The Australian team is scheduled to tour Pakistan just before the 2026 T20 World Cup. The tour, scheduled for January-February, will feature three T20Is and three ODIs. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Cricket Australia (CA) has sent a team to Lahore to assess security arrangements. The Cricket Australia Board's concern is not surprising, especially given the recent bombings in Islamabad.

The Australian Cricket Board's team, which includes a security advisor, a representative from the Australian Cricketers' Association, and several officials from the Australian High Commission, has met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting discussed security arrangements, logistics, and risk management.

The Australian Cricket Board's decision stems from the Islamabad bombing. A few weeks ago, a blast occurred near the judicial complex in Islamabad, killing 12 people and seriously injuring 25 others. Many of these individuals were lawyers. This blast raised serious questions about security in Pakistan.

The security situation had deteriorated to the point where the Sri Lankan team was in Pakistan at the time. Following the blast, several Sri Lankan cricketers spoke of returning to their country. However, the Sri Lankan team later returned after completing the series.

Australia-Pakistan series to be played in January-February

The Australian team will tour Pakistan in January-February. In January, they will play a three-match T20I series against Pakistan. In March, the two teams will play a three-match ODI series.
