The BSF has issued an alert in 553 km of this border in Punjab and has banned farming around the blast area. BSF sources said that after the completion of technical and forensic investigation, the BSF will take up the matter and issue a strong protest letter to Pakistan Rangers across the border.

Officials said that a BSF team was patrolling near the border security fence at night and found several IEDs with wires hidden in the Indian territory. According to preliminary information, about two IEDs were found here. The statement said that during the cordoning, investigation and search of the area, some IED explosive devices accidentally exploded due to which a BSF jawan suffered serious injury in his leg.

'IEDs have never been used before'The officer said, "This is the first time that an IED attack has taken place in this area or anywhere on the Punjab border or in the entire 2,289 km stretch of the international border."
