Delhi-NCR's air quality 'very bad'; situation expected to worsen tomorrow

New Delhi. The air quality in the national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas has reached very poor category. According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather, the overall air quality index (AQI) reached 343 on Wednesday morning. The AQI in Dhirpur was 369 with PM 2.5, which was in the 'very poor' category. The situation is expected to worsen on Thursday.


What is the AQI of where?

Talking about the air quality index of Delhi, the AQI PM 2.5 level at Topusa and Delhi University was 328 and 371, both recorded in 'very poor' categories. At IIT Delhi station, PM 2.5 was at 335, the air quality index at Mathura Road was 335. was in the "very poor" category, with PM 2.5 concentrations at 303 and PM10 concentrations at 352 in the 'very poor' category.


In Delhi's neighboring city Noida, the air quality index was 384 and PM 10 concentration was 397, both in the 'very poor' category. The maximum temperature in the capital on Wednesday was 32.3 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 16.4 degrees Celsius. According to the India Meteorological Department, the relative humidity was recorded at 48 percent at 5.30 pm.


MCD gives Rs 20 lakh to each zone

Meanwhile, Delhi Municipal Corporation has allocated Rs 20 lakh to each zone to deal with air pollution in the capital. Funds will be provided to all 12 zones so that the air quality can be improved in the next three days by controlling dust.
