The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association has decided to go on strike despite the government's assurance. A meeting between the doctors and the government is also going to be held on September 11.
Doctors on strike Today: Doctors in Punjab are on strike from today. Late on Saturday evening, the government issued a letter full of assurance to convince the doctors. After receiving the assurance from the government, the doctors did not strike but divided it into three phases. OPDs will not be open till 11 pm in government hospitals from today.

A meeting between the doctors and the government is also going to be held on September 11. All the demands will be considered by meeting the Cabinet Sub-Committee. The movement is being carried out by the association for the protection of doctors and medical staff in the hospital and to issue orders for increase in regular salaries.
Also, they will not call off their strike unless their timely pay hike notification is issued. The cabinet sub-committee formed by the government will be headed by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema.
Three phase strike
After assurance from the government, the doctors have converted the strike into three phases. The first phase will run from September 9 to 11. Meanwhile, OPD services will remain closed from 8 am to 11 am. The second phase will be held from September 12 to 15. In which OPD Services will be completely discontinued. The third phase will take place after September 16. In this, doctors will flatly refuse to do OPD as well as medico legal.
Committees will be formed
It is noteworthy that before this, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh had issued a letter late on Saturday evening. In which he gave orders to form committees. According to the issued letter, a committee will be formed for security and prevention of violent incidents in hospitals.
