DTC Bus: Pollution free travel will be easier, CM Arvind Kejriwal gifted 97 electric buses to Delhii

To further improve the transport system in the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has gifted 97 electric buses. Sometime back 102 electric buses were started in Delhi and now new 97 buses are being started. In such a situation, there will now be a total of 249 electric buses in Delhi, which will make it easier for the people of Delhi to travel pollution free.


On Wednesday afternoon, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated 97 more electric buses at Rajghat Depot 1. With this, the number of electric buses in the fleet of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will increase to 249. Let us tell you, now 102 electric buses are running under DTC. According to officials, in its 10-year time span, each bus is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from PM 2.5 and PM 10 by 0.33 million tonnes.

Will be equipped with hi-tech facilities

According to officials, the electric buses will be of state-of-the-art technology, with no noise or pollution. For the safety of the passengers, the bus will have facilities like air conditioning and CCTV cameras. Apart from this, it will include wheelchair accessibility, panic button facility. Also, the new buses will have special pink seats for female passengers. In addition, these buses will be equipped with fire detection and suppression systems to protect the passengers from any fire incident. Live video streaming will also be available in case of emergency. According to officials, the Central Command Control Room will also keep an eye on these buses.

The total number of buses will increase to 7,300

Let us inform that earlier in May, Kejriwal had given the gift of three e-bus depots at Mundela Kalan, Rohini Sector-37 and Rajghat depots. Along with this, about 150 e-buses were also inaugurated.

According to officials, the government's FAME-II program is being used to buy these e-buses. With the arrival of these e-buses, the total number of buses in Delhi's fleet will increase to 7,300. DTC currently has 3670 buses, out of which 3033 are used for cluster services.
