Khanna (Bipin): Khanna Police has busted a gang of people who were getting bails from courts on the basis of fake documents and arrested two main accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Surjit Singh, resident of village Durgapur, police station Bhadson, district Patiala and Mehma Singh, resident of Rajpura. From their possession, the police have recovered 9 fake Aadhaar cards, fake seal of Naib Tehsildar, a fake valuation certificate, and fake stamped deeds. According to the police, this gang was involved in such activities for a long time and has got bails in more than 25 cases till date.
SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav said that the police received information through an informer that Surjit Singh, a resident of Azad Nagar Khanna, was running this gang. A police team led by SHO Vinod Kumar of City Police Station-1 and ASI Pargat Singh raided Tehsil Khanna and arrested the accused. During the investigation, it was found that this gang used to prepare fake Aadhar cards by changing one digit in a real Aadhar card. Then, by putting a fake seal of the Naib Tehsildar, a fake fard was prepared and bail was filed in the court.
The SSP said that this organised gang used to charge Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 for a bail, while in big and serious cases the amount was even in lakhs. The police are now searching for four more accused - Harvinder Singh (Moga), Shamsher Khan, Rajveer Singh alias Raja alias Gurmeet Singh and Harmeet Singh (Bhadson). SSP Dr. Jyoti Yadav said that we will try to find out by taking the accused on remand whether there is any role of any government employee. If found like that, he too will not be spared.
