Gurugram hit-and-run case: Police take suo motu cognizance, register FIR against car driver
The Gurugram Police said that details are being traced on the incident and that the woman will also be included in the investigation. The accused had fled the spot after the incident. The police further said that it was monitoring instances of rash or negligent driving.
Gurugram: A day after a speeding car allegedly hit a sports bike, knocking the female rider off the bike and dragged for several metres, the police on Monday it has contacted the victim and have also registered an FIR in the case.
It added that details are being traced on the incident and that the woman will also be included in the investigation. The accused had fled the spot after the incident. The police further said that it was monitoring instances of rash or negligent driving.
Police share details of the incident
Speaking to ANI, Abhilaksh Joshi, Gurugram ACP, said, “On September 14, 2026, our Social Media Monitoring Cell intercepted a video showing a four-wheeler hitting a female two-wheeler rider from behind. This incident occurred on Golf Course Road”.
“The Gurugram Police have contacted the woman involved and, taking suo motu cognizance, have registered an FIR at the Sector 56 Police Station in Gurugram. Regarding the accused’s identity, details are currently being traced via the vehicle involved. The woman will also be included in the investigation, and further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge,” he added further.

Sharing further details with the agency, the official added, “We will contact the woman regarding the allegations made in her video, involve her in the investigation, proceed accordingly, and take action based on her claims… We are monitoring instances of rash or negligent driving and any such incidents occurring in Gurugram.”
Adding that the police would take suo motu cognizance even without a formal complaint, Joshi further said, “Even without a formal complaint, we will take suo motu cognizance and initiate action in accordance with the law; our special cell, created specifically for this purpose, is also keeping a close watch. People should not get involved in such incidents, nor should they spread baseless rumours about them. Doing so is a legal offense, and action will be taken.”
