Kolkata Rape Murder Case: Mamta Banerjee's big step, culprits to be hanged in 36 days...

On one hand, a doctor's sensational statement has come to the fore in the Kolkata rape and murder case, while on the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also taken a big step on Tuesday.

Kolkata Rape and Murder Case: The rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has shaken the entire country. New information is constantly coming out in this case. After this matter gained momentum, now Mamata government of West Bengal has also taken a big step. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has introduced an important bill on the second day of the special session of the Assembly. This bill is the anti-rape bill. The purpose of this bill is to provide immediate justice to the victims and give the harshest punishment to the culprits. This bill has a provision to give death penalty to the culprits within 10 days.

What is the name of the bill, how will it work

The name of the bill introduced by the Mamata Banerjee government is the Undefeated Women and Children Bill 2024. Under this bill, many rules have been laid down regarding crimes against women and children. The purpose of this bill is to curb the crimes against women and children in the state.

What is Afrajita Bill?

The Aparajit bill introduced by Mamata government has provision for death penalty in cases of rape and murder. Under this bill, there will be provision for death penalty within 36 days of filing the charge sheet. At the same time, death penalty will be given within 10 days of proving the crime.

In this bill, apart from rape, acid attack will also be considered an equally serious crime. For this too, there will be a provision of life imprisonment in this bill. Along with this, a special task force will be set up in every district to help in taking action related to rape, acid attack or molestation cases.

Action against identity revealer

In Mamata government's Aparajita bill, there is a provision for strict action against the person who reveals the identity of the rape victim. Let me tell you that this is not the first time, attempts have been made to bring such a bill before this.

However, this has happened for the first time in West Bengal. Earlier, the two states that tried to bring such a bill include Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. In both these states, an initiative was taken to bring such a bill in 2019-20.
