Amritsar- A married woman from Dharampura area of Mohkampura police station in Amritsar has accused her husband and maternal uncle of stripping her naked and beating her for not fulfilling her dowry demand. Talking to the media on this occasion, the victim Sapna said that she was married 8 months ago to Rajan son Dharampal, a resident of Dharampura area of Mohkampura. Shortly after the marriage, my husband started beating me up while demanding dowry.
The victim said that my father also explained this to my husband, but after some time, he started beating me again. He did this to me four or five times, each time my family members would explain to my husband and he would leave. The victim said that yesterday evening, my husband and maternal uncle again started beating me up over the demand for dowry and also tore my clothes and made me completely naked. When I screamed, the people of the locality gathered and they rescued me from my husband. After this, the police administration was informed about this, the police reached the spot and arrested my husband. At the same time, the victim demanded that strictest action should be taken against my husband and maternal uncle.
On this occasion, the police officer of Mohkampura police station said that we had received a complaint from a woman named Sapna, following which we have taken her husband Rajan into custody and the matter is being investigated. Appropriate action will definitely be taken against whoever is found guilty.
