A story of thieves and police has emerged from Surat, Gujarat, that will leave you astonished. The story of thieves and police begins with an abandoned motorcycle, a video of which was made viral on social media by a shopkeeper. Seeing a motorcycle parked for a long time outside a paan shop in the Ramnagar area, which falls under the Rander police station jurisdiction, a shopkeeper became suspicious and checked the bag hanging from the motorcycle, finding ₹2.69 lakh in cash, four pairs of clothes, and a small bottle of liquor. The shopkeeper filmed the viral video of an abandoned motorcycle parked in front of his shop, stating that it had been parked outside his shop for several days and no one had come to pick it up. A helmet was also hanging from the motorcycle, along with some bags. If no one came to pick it up soon, he would hand it over to the police. After the video went viral on social media, the shopkeeper informed the local Rander police station about the abandoned motorcycle. Police arrived at the scene, seized the motorcycle, and took it to the police station. Based on the motorcycle's number plate, the police tracked the motorcycle's owner. They then checked the bags hanging from the motorcycle and found 269,000 rupees in cash. Police returned the money. Based on the motorcycle's number, the police contacted the Katargam police station after 36 hours of searching and found the bike owner. The bike belonged to 46-year-old Dakshesh Kumar Arvindbhai Patel, who lives at 53, Panchdev Society, Amba Talawadi, Katargam, and works as a manager at a diamond factory. The motorcycle owner was brought to the police station, and the Rander police, demonstrating their integrity, returned the 269,000 rupees recovered from the motorcycle to the owner. The Rander police issued a formal statement regarding this matter and also filmed a video of the money being returned to the motorcycle owner. A video of this action by the Rander police went viral on social media. The video of the abandoned motorcycle being found and the police returning the money to the owner garnered widespread attention. Dakshesh Patel, who received the money from the police at the police station, told the police that he was returning from a friend's house in Jahangirpura. The 2.69 lakh rupees he had were meant to pay his son's fees. Near Ramnagar intersection, Dakshesh suddenly felt dizzy and began searching for a medical store. He found one, but forgot his bike and the lakhs of rupees it contained there and went home. The Rander police believed Dakshesh's story and returned the money. Later, the police returned his bag to him and even recorded a photo video. The Truth Behind the Money: The videos that went viral on social media reached Akashbhai, the landlord of Dakshesh Patel, who lives alone in his house. He showed the video of the entire incident. He suspected that Dakshesh hadn't paid his rent for the past three months, so where did he get such a large sum of money from? Based on this suspicion, when he checked the house, he discovered that cash had been stolen from his house. He then contacted the Katargam police station and filed a case. Upon investigation, the police discovered that Dakshesh Patel, who had received the money from the Rander police station, had stolen from Akashbhai's house. The Katargam police station arrested him without delay. Akashbhai Himantbhai Shiroya, who lives in Panchdev Society on Ambatlawadi Road in Katargam, Surat, is a diamond merchant. Daksheshkumar Arvindbhai Patel, who lives on the upper floor of his house, works as a manager in a diamond factory. Since the two families shared a good relationship, Dakshesh frequently visited Akashbhai's house. Consequently, he knew where the keys to the lockers and cupboards were kept. During this time, from 10 a.m. on November 26, 2025, to 5 p.m. on December 5, 2025, no elders were at home. He went and found 20 grams of gold and 3.55 lakh rupees in cash, a total of ₹455,000, in the locker. Dakshesh Patel, a manager at a diamond factory, stole from his landlord's house and then deceived the police. While retrieving the money, he concocted a story to avoid detection, and that's exactly what happened. A video of him receiving the money from the police went viral on social media, leading the landlord to suspect a theft had occurred, exposing the cunning thief. Rander police station had returned the money to him by showing their honesty, but now Katargam police station has arrested him because of his dishonesty i.e. theft.
Police say, Inspector BK Chaudhary of Katargam Police Station stated that on December 5, 2025, jewelry worth ₹3.55 lakh and ₹1 lakh was stolen from the house of Akash Himmat Bhai Siroya, who lives near Panchdev Society, Ambatlawadi. The accused is currently on remand and is under investigation. His conduct had been unsound for some time. He was suspected of being the perpetrator of the theft and had named him in the complaint.
