Swati Maliwal On Child Marriage: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued a notice to the Delhi Police in the case of child marriage and domestic violence against a 15-year-old Muslim girl. The victim girl had lodged a complaint with the Women's Commission, in which she told that she was married in February 2022 at the age of 15 in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. She told the commission that her in-laws had also committed violence with her.
The Muslim girl also told DCW that she has become pregnant and her in-laws also tried for abortion. The victim has alleged in the complaint that her husband and in-laws often beat her. She told, her husband attacked her with hot griddle, electric wire and screw driver. The girl has said that her husband threw her out of her in-laws house and after that she came to her parents' house in Delhi, where she is currently living.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the Delhi Police regarding this matter . The commission has sought information about arrests along with a copy of the FIR made in the case. The commission has also sought an action taken report in this matter by December 22, 2022. Delhi Women's Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal said that we have received a complaint of child marriage and ill-treatment of a 15-year-old girl. He told that the girl was given abortion medicines, electrocuted by wire, she was killed with a hot griddle. Swati said, we have issued a notice to the Delhi Police for strict action. FIR should be registered in the matter and strict action should be taken against the accused persons.
