Earthquake: Where was the epicenter of the earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir, how much damage was done


The earthquake that occurred on Tuesday (June 13) in the mountainous Doda and surrounding areas of Jammu and Kashmir has caused havoc. This earthquake was of 5.4 Richter scale, whose center was at a depth of 6 kilometers in Doda.


The earthquake occurred on June 13 at around 1:34 pm. Earthquake tremors were felt the most in Jammu and Kashmir, while its tremors were also felt in entire North India, Pakistan and China.


After the tremors, large cracks developed in the building, causing panic among health facility officials and patients. However, there is no report of any injury or any other untoward incident.


The district official said, "Fortunately everything else is normal now. We have formed teams to see if there is any damage elsewhere in the district."


According to the sarpanch of Panchayat Hilur Kuntwara, cracks have appeared in 21 houses in Panchayat Hilur of Kuntwara of Kishtwar. It is a matter of pride that there is no information about any loss of life or property.


Rescue efforts are on with the participation of J&K Police and local residents. Teams are trying to evacuate people from their homes, as many have become unsafe to live in. The earthquake caused cracks in many buildings.


Many hill villages have been damaged by the earthquake. In which cracks have appeared in at least 25 houses in Panchayat Shandri. In addition, in Panchayat Sangana, 19 structures have been affected, mostly houses.


Rescue teams are continuing their efforts to assess the overall impact and ensure the safety of the residents. The extent of damage caused by the earthquake is also being assessed.
