After the violence in Haldwani, police have been put on high alert in the entire state. Violence broke out on Thursday evening in 'Malik's Garden' located in the Muslim-dominated Banbhulpura area.
Haldwani Violence: Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar said on Friday that action will be taken under the National Security Act (NSA) against the elements involved in attacking policemen and arson and vandalism in Banbhulpura area of Haldwani on Thursday. After taking stock of the situation in the violence-hit town in Nainital district with senior officials, Kumar said the first priority is to restore normalcy in Haldwani as soon as possible
Action under Rasuka against anarchist element
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Anshuman Singh also remained with Kumar during this period. Kumar said that with the imposition of curfew, the situation has come under control to a great extent but at this time our special focus is to restore normalcy in the city in the next 24 hours. He said that action will be taken under NSA against the unruly elements who attacked policemen and indulged in vandalism and arson in Banbhulpura.
DGP visited the burnt police station
The Director General of Police held a meeting with district level officials in Haldwani and took information from them about the situation. He also went to see the injured admitted in the hospital. He also visited the police station which was torched by anarchist elements.
Police high alert in entire state
After the violence in Haldwani, police have been put on high alert in the entire state. Violence broke out on Thursday evening during the demolition of an illegal madrassa and namaz place in 'Malik Ka Bagicha' located in the Muslim-dominated Banbhulpura area. Two persons died in the incident while three others were seriously injured.
