Rama Navami Ruckus: There has been uproar in some states of the country on the festival of Ram Navami. At the same time, the festival was celebrated with full enthusiasm in Delhi and Ram Nagri Ayodhya amid tight security.
Rama Navami 2023 Ruckus: On Thursday (March 30), the festival of Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, was celebrated with full religious enthusiasm across the country. During this, clashes were also seen in many states of the country. Stones were pelted at the Ram Navami procession in Fatehpura area of Vadodara, Gujarat. Apart from this, stones were pelted and vehicles were also set on fire during the Ram Navami procession in Howrah, West Bengal.
After the uproar, police personnel conducted a flag march in the area. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the BJP for the Howrah incident without naming it. He said that they have been calling goons from outside the state to carry out communal riots. No one stopped their processions, but they do not have the right to march with swords and bulldozers. How did they get the audacity to do this in Howrah?
"Route changed to target a community"
Mamta Banerjee said that the month of Ramadan is also going on and Muslims do not do any 'wrong' work in this month. He said that my eyes and ears are open. I can smell everything. I had already warned them to be careful while taking out processions from Muslim dominated areas. I have said earlier also that if we hold a rally on Ramnavami, violence can happen. Today, bulldozers were also taken to Howrah. Changed the route, by asking whom did he change the route? So that a community can be targeted.
He said that if they believe that they will attack others and get relief through legal interventions, they should know that the public will one day reject them. Those who have not done any wrong will not be arrested. How dare BJP workers run bulldozers on people's houses?
clash in sambhajinagar
In Kiradpura area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (old name Aurangabad) of Maharashtra, two groups clashed and stones were pelted. Also some private and police vehicles were set on fire. The police used force to disperse the people. Sambhajinagar CP Nikhil Gupta said that now the situation is peaceful. Police will take strict action against the miscreants.
What did the CM of Maharashtra say?
CM of Maharashtra on this incident Eknath Shinde said that I have spoken to the officials and appealed to the people to maintain peace. The way all the festivals have been celebrated together till date, in the same way all the festivals should be celebrated. Do not spoil the law and order situation in the state.
Clash in Gujarat's Vadodara
On the uproar in Gujarat's Vadodara, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashpal Jaganiya said that during this some vehicles were damaged, although no one was injured. The procession was taken out under police protection through a predetermined route. Jaganiya and other senior police officers had reached the spot after coming to know about the incident.
Jaganiya claimed that security arrangements were made in every procession taken out in the city on Thursday. The condition is under control. The incident took place when the procession reached near a mosque and people started reaching the spot. This is not a communal riot. We dispersed the crowd and the procession moved on. Under Police Commissioner Manoj Ninama also reached the spot and ordered deployment of additional forces to maintain peace.
Uproar in Lucknow too
Apart from this, there has been an uproar on Ram Navami in Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh as well. DCP North Lucknow Kasim Abidi said that 10-15 people along with a person named Sumit were playing some music on a DJ, after which an argument broke out between the two groups of people. This was objected to by another group when it passed through a religious place in Madiaon village under Jankipuram police station. Procession was not allowed. Both the groups were taken into custody. Peace prevails in the area.
The situation in Delhi remained tense
There was tight security in Delhi too on the occasion of Ram Navami. A large number of people took out a march against the rules on the occasion of Ram Navami in North-West Delhi's Jahangirpuri, following which the anti-riot force had to be deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident. Police gave this information.
The Delhi Police had denied permission to a group of people to take out 'Shri Ram Bhagwan Pratima Yatra' in Jahangirpuri as part of the Ram Navami festival. The police took this step in the wake of violent clashes between two communities during a procession taken out in the area last year on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The birth anniversary of Lord Ram was celebrated with full enthusiasm in Ram Nagri Ayodhya amid tight security.
